In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Socrate Sarfo said he has contributed immensely to the movie industry for the past 23 years and needs to be awarded for that. “I have employed a lot of actors and actresses who are doing so well and am proud of them” he said. Do you think Socrate has indeed contributed greatly to the movie industry has he claims?
Asked why he prefers producing soft porn movies, he explained that his movies are not really pornographic but one cannot talk about love without showing a little bit of sex scenes. According to him there is an overwhelming interest in adults’ movies, so why shy away from it.
“In the past Ghanaians preferred such olden day movies like ‘Love Brewed in African Pot’ and ‘Heritage Africa’, but I can say for a fact that if blended with our contemporary movies, the results would be fantastic”, Socrate added.
The controversial movie producer said Kwaw Ansah and the other production houses who were producing some years back could still give us old school movies whilst Shirley Frimpong Manso, Abdul Salam, etc can also go the modern way. With that we would have a fusion of the old and new which he believes will make our movie industry a solid one.
Ghanaian movie has grown so fast but there is still more to do. According to Socrate who has been working in the Ghanaian Movie Industry as a producer and a writer for more than 23 years, “there should be laws to regulate money which comes into the industry”. Socrate added that the government’s delay in passing the film bill can kill our movie industry.
