Rahim Ayew has been in good form for Belgian side Lierse
Ghanaian utility player Rahim Ayew will play in the Europa League next season if his club Lierse manage at least a draw against local rivals Mechelen on Saturday.
Rahim, son of legend Abedi Pele, has been in terrific form for Lierse playing in key role in their play-off successes this season.
The two sides clash in the Belgian league play-offs this weekend with Lierse in a good position to clinch a place in Europe’s second tier club competition.
A win will clinch them an automatic place in the Europa league, and the Ghana international is confident they will get the desired result to qualify.
“We have surprised many people with the way we have played this season and a win against Mechelen will be the icing on the cake.
“I have worked hard together with my team-mates to get this far this season after we were not given any chance of excelling.
“Playing regularly here has boosted my confidence and my aim is to continue to improve and work hard for Lierse.”
Ayew joined Lierse from Zamalek after a torrid time at Egyptian side.
He joined Lierse during the winter transfer opportunity and has been impressive in both right-back and midfield positions.
