Most of the Government functionaries, Ministers, MPs, DCEs, Council of State Members milled around President Mills as he picked nomination forms at the ruling Party’s Headquarters as well as at his Kuku Hill campaign office. Spokesperson for the Rawlingses, Kofi Adams in an interview with Citi News alluded that the appointees had no choice but to appear to be supporting the President who gave them their jobs.
However, Koku Anyidoho dismissed the assertions describing it as laughable and unfortunate. According to him, most of the government appointees supported President Mills because of the confidence and trust they have in him and not because the appointees want to protect their jobs.
“At the time that I was resigning from the bank, a well paid job to work for president Mills in opposition was I protecting my job. Didn’t I rather look like a madman? In fact people told me so, they said I was stupid, why are you leaving a well paid job to work for a sick man. “So if we have worked hard because we believe in the man and today he is President and we still continue to believe in him what is all this talk about protecting our jobs. We are not protecting our jobs.
“We are protecting something that is in the best interest of mother Ghana, we are protecting the future of this country and we are protecting what it is that would make Ghana good. If it was about jobs we wouldn’t have resigned our jobs to come and work for an opposition leader with an NPP incumbent government with all their resources and all the impression they created that NDC would never come to power but we resigned and came to work for him…and today he is President and you say we are protecting our jobs, it is laughable and we will laugh at it”.
