It is the second time that the forward will win it this season, making him the sixth in the enviable company of players like Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ruud van Nisterooy, Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young who have won the gong more than once in a season.
Odemwingie’s impressive run in April saw him score against Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Aston Villa as the Baggies fought to avoid relegation. He also moved his tally to 14 goals in his first season in England since a move from Lokomotiv Moscow after last year’s World Cup.
He has said his target this term is 15 goals and he will look to reach it in the derby against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.
“I’m happy to pick up the award for the second time this year and it is the result of good team performances,” Odemwingie told the club’s website.
“When I won it in September we were excellent. We had a good away win at the Emirates and beat the Blues in a derby.
“Overall the team performance was great last month, my team-mates made it easier for me and I am doing well.
“There are many reasons why I am happy here, on and off the pitch.
“Things are going well, I’m motivated, I really like the league and I’m playing at a good club, where I’m being looked after well.
“Our supporters are really nice to me and there are no problems in the dressing room.
“All these things make a big difference,” Odemwingie said, as the team continues to prepare for Sunday’s league battle with rivals Wolves.
