The couple – who tied the knot in Los Angeles in December 2006 – welcomed their first child into the world yesterday (05.05.11).
Perhaps taking inspiration from the ‘Unhappily Ever After’ actress’ mother’s moniker, the pair have decided to name their son – who weighed in at 6lbs 7oz – Meredith Daniel Mohr, and say they are “over the moon” with their “perfect” new arrival.
The pair told People magazine: “We are over the moon, filled with joy and every other cliché new parents use. He’s perfect.”
While baby Meredith is Nikki’s first child, his arrival marks the second time Jay has become a father after having a son, Jackson, eight, from a previous relationship.
Before he married Nikki, Jay joked his son – who was just three at the time – would be planning a ‘Thomas the Tank Engine’ themed bachelor party.
He said: “It would be Big Wheels, a little Thomas the Tank Engine and then jumping off the furniture yelling, ‘Infinity and beyond!’
“Once in a while he’ll mix it up and yell, ‘Guacamole and cheese!’ I have no idea why, but it has the same result, a cannonball into my solar plexus followed by insane laughing.”
