Nani believes Manchester United have a psychological advantage over Chelsea ahead of Sunday’s crunch encounter due to their success in both Champions League ties between the clubs this season.

United beat the current Premier League champions 1-0 at Stamford Bridge before sealing the Blues’ Champions League fate with a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford to progress to the semi-final of the competition, where they cruised past German side Schalke.

Despite setting up a final against Barcelona, Nani is adamant that he and his team-mates need to focus on ending Chelsea’s Premier League dreams on Sunday.

Nani was quoted as saying by Sky Sports: “The most important game now is Chelsea not Barcelona.

“It will be very difficult. But we are at home and we have had good experiences against them.

“We know if we want to win the game we have to play with confidence. The results against them in the Champions League were very good. I think that gives us the psychological advantage.”

Victory for Sir Alex Ferguson’s men would take them six points clear of Chelsea with only two games remaining, a gap which would be almost impossible to overturn according to the Portugal winger.

“We just have to concentrate on our football and winning the game. If we do that then everything will be fine,” added the 24-year-old.

“If we win this one then it is a great advantage for us. It is nearly over then. We have a great chance.”

Victory would leave United needing just one point from their remaining two fixtures against Blackburn and Blackpool to win the title.

And now Nani hopes they would be able to follow up that potential success in the Champions League final at Wembley.

He added: “It is very important to be all together. It would another fantastic story for this club if we win at Wembley.”
