Craig Bellamy has reaffirmed his desire to stay at Cardiff City and insists he will stay at the club even if they fail to win promotion to the Premier League.

Cardiff are unable to achieve automatic promotion unless QPR are docked points and will have to attempt to reach the top flight via the playoffs, but Bellamy has revealed that he would stay with the club even if they did not go up this year.

“If it is a missed opportunity this year, I will definitely be here next year because I am committed,” Bellamy told BBC Sport.

“I will stay, I want this club to get in the Premier League.”

With two years left on his contract with Manchester City it remains to be seen whether the club would be prepared to allow the striker to return to Cardiff.

With the player seemingly surplus to requirements at Eastlands, the club may wish to try and sell the striker, but Bellamy insists that he has no desire to play for another Premier League team.

“I’m here for a year and Man City have been great and we’ll speak about it after,” he said.

“But Man City know my situation. They know I only want to play for Man City in the Premier League, I don’t want to play for anyone else.

“I hear stories of other clubs and why would I choose them now when I could have chosen them last year?

“Why suddenly a year later would I want to go to the likes of the other teams?”

Bellamy admits he would happy to play for Manchester City again, but with the arrival of Edin Dzeko in January it is likely to end any hope of Bellamy finding a place in the team.

The 31-year-old has issued an ultimatum and insists that the only other team he will play for is Cardiff and hopes to help them reach the Premier League.

He continued: “My stance is clear on this,  I’m adamant on that. They own me, they are my club. If I can’t play for them I will not play for anyone else apart from Cardiff City.

“If it is a missed opportunity this year, I will definitely be here next year because I want this club to get to the Premier League.

“Whether it finishes my career doing so, I’ll make sure that happens because I’m committed.”

Bellamy is confident about mounting a successful playoff charge.

“I’ve made too many promises to myself, my kids, my friends and people around me that if I don’t get promotion it will be a massive disappointment to me,” he said.

“But I’ll be here next year trying to do the same.”
