Mr Kofi Adams noted that the campaign team of Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, whose campaign launch on Wednesday May 4, was poorly patronized by party officials and functionaries is unfazed by events in the Mills camp.
According to him, most of the Government functionaries, Ministers, MPs, DCEs, Council of State Members were all appointees who necessarily felt obliged to show open support to their boss, President Mills.
Thousands turned out to witness President Mills pick his nomination forms on Thursday and later proceeded to his campaign headquarters at Osu in Accra to witness the campaign officially declared.
Hon. E.T Mensah, Sherry Ayitey, Cecilia Johnson, Ama Benyiwa Doe, are notable allies of the former President Rawlings who were all seen surrounding President Mills throughout the event.
However, speaking on Citi Eyewitness News on Thursday May 5, Kofi Adams noted that the former first lady is completely unshaken and is focused on unseating President Mills in the upcoming congress.
“It was the appointees of the President who were there and you can understand that appointees will abandon everything that they are supposed to do to get to that point. Nana Konadu has done her analysis and is not adding delegates who are appointees to be part of her strong support base. There is no shaking at all in Konadu’s camp”.
However, Director of Communications at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho has rejected the suggestion that many of the party functionaries present at President Mills’ campaign launch were there not by choice.
“Time changes and people move on, we are not in a static society, society changes constantly and today President Mills is the leader of the NDC tomorrow it will not be him, it will be somebody else and that person will become the running point. That is what people must understand that time changes”.
