Abuja – Parents in Kano State have expressed concern over the involvement of youths in the recent post-election violence, describing the development as a “bad omen for the country”.
Some of the parents who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Kano, condemned the conduct of youths formenting violence after the presidential elections.
Abubukar Sadiq, a parent, lamented that “most of the youths are not gainfully employed, while some of them are unemployable others are also not well educated”.
Sadiq appealed to the incoming government to engage youths in meaningful ventures that would keep them busy.
Another parent, Saliu Manu, also expressed dismay over the “unfortunate incidents” that occurred in some parts of the country where he said, children of school age took part in violence.
Maimuna Aliko, a house wife, appealed to the State Government to intervene and salvage the situation “as a matter of urgency before the situation gets out of hand”.
Aliko advised parents in the state to set good standards that their children could emulate and ensure that their children were law-abiding at all times. (NAN)
