ABUJA-Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Benue State, yesterday raised alarm over an alleged plot by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state to destroy electoral materials used at the governorship polls in order to obliterate evidence of its alleged rigging.

“We have uncovered plans to burn down the INEC office in Benue State. There is need to secure the material used for the elections,” it said.

At a briefing  yesterday, ACN governorship candidate in the state, Prof. Steve Ugbah, accused Gabriel Suswam of unleashing his thugs on ACN and deliberate acts of victimisation of civil servants who were suspected to have voted for ACN in the governorship elections.

Prof. Ugbah pleaded with INEC Chairman, Prof Attahiru Jega, to ensure security for electoral materials in the state, as he vowed to use every legal means to reclaim his mandate allegedly hijacked by the PDP in the state.

Ugbah also accused the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Alhaji Nasir Ayilara, of working in collaboration with security personnel to ‘massively rig’ the polls for Governor Suswam during the elections.

Prof. Ugbah claimed that his party won all elections held in the state, but added that the polls were hijacked by the PDP.
