West Ham’s Lars Jacobsen defends manager Avram Grant: The players are to blame for being bottom

West Ham United defender Lars Jabonsen has deflected criticism away from manager Avram Grant and claims it is the players who are to blame for the club’s poor league position.

Grant has come under heavy critiscm and faces a huge challenege to keep the Hammers in the Premier League, sitting as they do in bottom place, but full-back Jacobsen believes it is not the Israeli who should be blamed.

“I can only speak for myself, and I’ve enjoyed working with him Grant and I’ve had a good season under him,” Jacobsen told onside.dk.

“It may well be that we have not got the points we should, but you never know if it would have been different with another manager.

“As a player you need to look at yourself.

“It’s us playing and it would be very wrong for a player to criticize the manager.

“It is us players who need to look at ourselves and perhaps we should have done better during the season.”

West Ham face Blackburn at home on Saturday and need all three points to keep their survival hopes alive.
