Yaw Boateng Gyan said the former president was being misinformed by elements within his camp about the day-to-day administration of the party.
Yaw Boateng, who was speaking On Adom FM said all those people misleading Rawlings will soon take all the glory away from him. According to him, the executives never agreed on a specific date to hold congress and described as unfortunate for anybody to say that it was planned to favour a particular group of persons.
Yaw Boateng Gyan claimed former President Rawlings was present at the National Executive Council Meeting when they took a collective decision to announce the date for the congress and was therefore surprised that Mr. Rawlings has turned around to make such statements.
Mr. Rawlings, who made a brief statement at the launch of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings’ 2012 campaign launch on Wednesday, launched a series of attacks on the Atta Mills’ administration saying that the NDC lost the 2012 presidential elections some eight months back.
But Yaw Boateng Gyan has disputed the statement made by the former President explaining that the NDC is on course and will win the elections despite recent internal conflicts.
He wondered how anyone could say that President Mills lost focus after two weeks in power, insisting that the NDC can win the 2012 elections without former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings. Yaw Boateng Gyan said the NDC will retain power in 2012 whether President Mills or Nana Konadu wins the flagbearership of the party.
He maintained that the party executives are ready to go all out to campaign vigorously for whoever will win the slot to lead the party.
