At least 25 people have been killed in communal violence in the south-eastern Guinean town of Galakpaye, police said Thursday.
Some estimates put the death toll from the clashes at 36.
The violence pitting indigenous Kpeles against ethnic Malinkes who come from other parts of Guinea erupted overnight Monday and raged on throughout Tuesday, sources told the AFP news agency.
Ten people were said to have been burnt alive while nine seriously wounded victims were transferred to the regional hospital at N’Zerekore.
Security forces were rushed to the scene of the clashes and made several arrests, the sources added.
