Rangnick: No complaints after Schalke were trounced by Manchester United

Schalke boss Ralf Rangnick admitted his side were always second best as they were destroyed by Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League semi-final.

The Red Devils cruised to a 6-1 aggregate success over the Bundesliga side, who looked a shadow of the team which accounted for Inter Milan in the quarter-finals.

Anderson struck twice for United, with Antonio Valencia and Darron Gibson also on target for a much-changed home side, while Jose Manuel Jurado’s reply was scant consolation.

And Rangnick had no complaints as Sir Alex Ferguson’s men cruised through to the Wembley final on 28th May where they will face Barcelona.

Better side

“I have to congratulate Manchester United – over the two games they were the better side,” Rangnick said. “As soon as we went behind it was difficult for us.

“We have to admit we could have gone out in the quarter-final against Inter – tonight we found out our level.”
