3 May 2011 Catete — At least 8,942 children, under 5 years old were vaccinated against poliomyelitis during the last campaign held on 28-30 April in Icolo e Bengo district, northern Bengo province. The information was released Tuesday by the local supervisor of Broad Vaccination Programme (PAV), Maximiano Cavimbi. The Health official stressed that the campaign reached beyond the expected number of 7,400 children.
Huambo — At least eight people were killed and nine got injured, following the heavy rains that hit the central Huambo province, over the quarter in 2011.
Speaking to Angop, the commander of the local civil protection and fire service, João Ricardo said that the rains made 516 families homeless.
