Rafael Benitez has not been contacted by Chelsea and will not coach Roma next season – agent

Rafael Benitez has not been approached by Chelsea to replace Carlo Ancelotti according to his agent Manuel Garcia Quilon.

The 51-year-old’s representative also confirmed that he will not return to Italy next season to become the new Roma coach, despite reports linking him with the Stadio Olimpico outfit.

The Spanish tactician has been without a coaching job since December when he was relieved of his duties as the Inter boss despite leading them to the Club World Cup trophy.

The former Valencia and Liverpool manager has since been linked with a number of clubs.

Some media outlets have suggested that he could replace Carlo Ancelotti as the Chelsea manager in the summer while some reports claim that he could take over from Vincenzo Montella as the Roma tactician.

However, Quilon has moved to quash those reports and told Calciomercato.it: “He’d Benitez certainly prefer England. I have never received a call from the Giallorossi Roma, but as I already said, he would like to manage a British club again.

“Have Chelsea called us? No, there is no news there,” he added.

Ancelotti has been heavily linked with a move to coach Roma for next season under the American ownership of Thomas DiBenedetto and reports in England suggest that Blues owner Roman Abramovich is looking for options to replace the Italian at Stamford Bridge.
