The Labour Party in Plateau State says it has compiled all cases of malpractices and fraudulent acts that took place during the gubernatorial, senate and House of Assembly elections in the state and is ready to challenge the results at the elections tribunals.
The LP at the end of an extra-ordinary meeting in Jos which discussed the process and outcome of the elections, said in a communiqué that it has rejected the results of the election and is heading for the elections tribunal. The party said the elections were marred with several fraudulent acts and malpractices.
The communiqué signed by its publicity secretary, Sylvanus Namang, condemned the elections and rejected the results saying the elections were anything but free and fair.
The LP said specifically that PDP supporters in the state openly induced voters with money at polling units on election day, stuffed ballot boxes with already thumb-printed ballot papers, used state machinery to intimidate Labour agents and engaged in multiple voting.
The party also alleged that under- aged voters were used freely to rig the election citing the example of the one that caught the attention of the media in Riyom local government.
The party insists that the outcome of the elections amounted to a total mockery and rape of democracy as it did not reflect the true wishes of the people. The LP spokesman therefore said the results were unacceptable, saying PDP members acted contrary to the laws.
The party called on its members in the state to remain calm, peaceful and law abiding as it continues to explore legal avenues to get justice.
