AT least 100 golfers have confirmed to compete for the top honours at the two-day Northern Province Open 2011 set for Arusha Gymkhana Club this Saturday and Sunday.

The 36 holes competition has been organized by the Tanzania Golf Union (TGU) and sponsored by the Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL).

TGU Administrator Sophie Nyanjera said today is the deadline for golfers to register for the tournament.

“So far we have over one hundred entries with over 50 golfers from the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club. The competition counts for Order of Merit Points,” she said.

She further said that the participants will be both ladies and gentlemen with a maximum handicap of 24 for ladies and 18 for men.

Nyanjera said the first to sixth winners will receive hefty prizes from the event sponsors.

“The Captain of Arusha Richard Gomez and his Committee are busy with golf course preparations and we look forward to a very successful event,” she said.
