Speaking to reporters at his residence in Koforidua, Appea-Kubi said human beings were bound to make mistakes, and he was no exception. According to him, he had learnt from his mistake, and appealed to the media practitioners to look at issues that would unite the country, and not the divisive ones.
He also appealed to the press to discharge their duties without fear or favour. Apea-Kubi further told the journalists that though he was not calling on them to sing praises for him, they must be circumspect about the way they go about their work.
According to him, his office had not spent money on journalists, and that the comment he made about spending money on journalists was in reference to vehicles they provide to transport journalists whenever he travelled outside the regional capital, Koforidua.
The Minister recently used abusive words against journalists in the region, especially, those reporting for the private media houses, after they reported an incident that happened in his office when he met executives of his party.
After the publication of his tantrums, the Ghana Journalists Association called on him to render an apology to journalists in the country for the unwarranted attack on them. The private media also refused to cover his programme, until he apologised to them.
