Mexican team Pachuca puts entire squad up for sale

Just one year after winning the CONCACAF Champions League, Mexican side Pachuca has taken the decision to place all of its players on the transfer list.

In a statement from Reuters, members of the Pachuca board have said they are offering all squad members the opportunity to leave the club if they desire a move for the new season.

“After a meeting, we decided to make all the first team players transferable,” the board claimed.

“This doesn’t mean they will go, but that they have the option of leaving the club if that suits their interests and those of the club.”

Such an extreme offer could prove costly for Pachuca, which risks losing star international players including Paraguayan striker Edgar Benitez, as well as USA duo Hercules Gomez and Jose Francisco Torres.

The domestic season ended last weekend for Pachuca, which look set to be confronted with some major changes before the 2011-2012 campaign.
