LOCAL basketball referees have been encouraged to register for Zone V referees clinic to be held at the Don Bosco centre in Dar es Salaam starting May 23.
Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF) Secretary General, Alexander Msoffe said the three week training will be conducted by a well known Kenyan International instructor Vitalis Bode.
He said the local referees should take full advantage of the clinic by attending in big numbers so as to upgrade their status.
“The course is held once a year among the member countries, this time it is our turn we hope the local referees will take full advantage as it is cost effective to them,” he observed.
He said the cost of the course is 150,000/- per participant, adding that for the locals it will be cheap for them as they will not have to incur air travel expenses if they were to travel to other countries for the training.
Msoffe said they are expecting participants from other Zone V countries like Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt.
