Gamtel Donates to Gambian Embassy in Guinea Bissau

The Gambia Telecommunications Company Limited (Gamtel) Tuesday donated two printers, two desktop computers and one Laptop to the Gambian Embassy in Guinea Bissau.

The items were received by the Gambian ambassador to Guinea Bissau, Alhaji Mass Axi Gye at a ceremony held at the Gamtel House in Banjul.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Amadou Touray, public relations officer (PRO) of Gamtel said the donation is meant to ease the work of the staff of the Gambian Embassy in Bissau. “We are in an era of technology and these donated items will enhance the work of the administration of the Gambian Embassy in Bissau,” he remarked. He revealed that the donation is a response to a request made by Ambassador Gye, adding that the donated items are worth D108, 000.

For his part, Ambassador Gye acknowledged that the donated items will further enhance their work at the Embassy. He thanked Gamtel for the gesture, adding that is not the first time Gamtel is donating to institutions. He further urged them to continue with the good job.

Banding Sillah, finance director of Gamtel said they have a responsibility to contribute to national development. He added that the donation will facilitate easy communication between the Embassy in Bissau and The Gambia government.

For his part, Jamal Miknas, managing director of Gamtel, said that the donation will improve the operation of the Embassy in Bissau.
