President Faure Gnassingbe made a working visit of several hours in Burkina Faso, on Tuesday, during which he met his counterpart Blaise Compaoré. This country has in recent weeks witnessed a great deal of tension.
The Togolese Head of State said that “his country had experienced a similar crisis in the 1990s. This resulted in tensions. But in 2005, with the guidance of President Compaoré, we engaged in dialogue. We believe that in the life of a country, there are always problems, but their resolution must come through dialogue. “
“I would like to restate the proximity of the Togolese people and hope that after the events in this country, the calm, peace and national harmony will be restored,” said Gnassingbé.
