Sports Council Outlines Rules for Association Registration

National Sports Council on Wednesday unveiled rules that individuals interested in registering associations should follow.

In a meeting held which discussed among others, the de-registration of national sports associations, the Sports Council Executive Secretary, Momodou Max Jallow, revealed that for a national sports association to be recognized by NSC, it must have eight clubs.

“For a sports body to be able to represent Gambia as a national team, it must have a league with eight clubs to meet the required standard of a National Sports Association in the Gambia” said Jallow.

According Max Jallow, June 30th 2011 is set aside as the date for associations to formally register which involves paying a fee of one thousand dalais annually to the NSC.

Jallow said “we expect each national sports association to live up to its aims and objectives, organize annual general meeting (AGM) and congress as stipulated in their constitutions”

Adding, “Functional and effective District Sports Committees need to be established all over the country to help organize proper village and district sports competitions for all sporting disciplines”

NSC has in the same vein dispatched a written text elucidating credentials that’s qualifies a sports body to be recommended by the NSC.

“CRITERIA FOR ENDORSEMENT AS NATIONAL SPORTS ASSOCIATION

– All National Association must have 8 clubs to meet the required standard of a National Sports Association organization in the Gambia.

– All National Sports Association must cover at least four regional and decentralize their activities.

– All National Sports Association must be able to organize National Championship

– All National Sports Association must affiliate to their parent bodies

– All National Sports Association must pay affliction fee ofDl000.00, one Thousand Dalasis annually to National Sports Council

– All National Sporting Associations are required to manifest their affliction to National Sports Council and their parent bodies annually

– All National Sports Association are required to conduct their AGM congress, as stipulated in their constitution and National Sports Council shall monitor their progress.

– All National Sports Association/Organization shall submit as of year report and statement of account to National Sports Council.

– All Nâfla1 Spts Association require to submit their National/International calendar of activities annually.

– All National Sports Association/ Organization must obtain clearance letter form National Sports Council before traveling out of the country for international competition.

– Set up task force committee to design concept document for the National Sports Conference festival 2011.

– Discuss with the Regional Sports Committee on the modalities and cost implication to organize National Football tournament to develop grassroots/community sports.

– National Sports Council makes proposal for Nation wide sports competitions as supported financially

– Make copies of National Sports Policy and Strategic Plan available to the Ministry and all divisional sports coordinator.”
