According to him, the defeated Asokwa MP thinks too highly of himself and is also such a foul-mouthed politician that he does not deserve to be part of the country’s law making body.
Last Saturday’s parliamentary primaries organized by the NPP in some 220 out of the country’s 230 constituencies (primaries in 10 constituencies were suspended) churned out some interesting results. Whilst incumbent MPs like Dr. Richard Anane, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh and Dan Botwe were retained by delegates in their various constituents, some political dinosaurs in the NPP, unfortunately, were knocked out including the MP for Ahafo-Ano South, Hon. Speaking on e-TV’s Breakfast TV Newspaper Review on Monday May 2, a clearly overjoyed Yalley stated that he does not share in the opinion of some social commentators that the Asokwa MP’s defeat at the hands of former KMA boss, Madam Patricia Appiagyei was shocking.
To him, there was nothing outlandish about the Asokwa primary result since Hon Kofi Jumah does not deserve to be in the august House, considering his attitude. He added that law-makers cast in the mould of Maxwell Kofi Jumah are not good examples unto the society and must not be allowed to hold any prestigious position.
“I was very happy to hear that Kofi Jumah has lost. Ursula is another kind but she is not like Maxwell, I know that strategies can be changed so to say that it was a shocking; no, it was not shocking at all…We need to sanitize our politics and if people like Kofi Jumah are out of politics, I am happy,” he stated.
The former government official in the erstwhile Rawlings administration however expressed disappointment that NPP stalwarts, Ursula Owusu and MP for Assin North, Kennedy Agyapong, won the confidence of the party’s delegates. According both of them should have lost to serve as example that insults and abusive language do not pay.
He urged the Assin North MP to sanitize his language after being given another opportunity to serve in the House, pointing out that insofar as serious business is conducted in parliament acrid tongued individuals should not be allowed in there as representatives of a constituent.
“He issues insults at every given opportunity and has even gone to the extent of threatening to kill somebody. I always pray that people like him are not allowed in parliament,” he added.
