Fifa have confirmed plans are in place to test various different goal-line technologies in the coming months.

The past weekend saw calls for goalline technology grow following Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard’s controversial goal in their narrow 2-1 win at home to Tottenham.

Fifa have confirmed that plans are in place for a number of tests to be conducted in the coming months, using a variety of equipment, to determine whether a ball has crossed the line.

Testing of different goal-line technologies will include its software reliability, performance under changing weather as well as on different pitch surfaces.

Chelsea’s goal at the weekend is one of a number of close calls in recent weeks in the Premier League with a similar incident also occurring in Everton’s match against Aston Villa at Goodison Park.

However the introduction of goal-line technology still appears to be some way off after Fifa confirmed the results from the testing will not be presented until July 2012.
