Defeated Sitting MPs Pledge Support

Some prominent defeated aspirants in the New Patriotic Party parliamentary primaries held on Saturday April 30 have told Citi News they are not embittered about their loss and will work to ensure that the NPP becomes victorious in the 2012 General elections.

Stephen Kwaku Balado-Manu, who is MP for Ahafo Ano South, was seeking re-election in the primaries but lost to Frank Manu-Adabor.

Mr. Balado-Manu said he welcomed the verdict of the delegates and will not do anything to undermine the chances of the party in the constituency.

“I will continue to promote the ideals of the party, defend the party and do all that I was doing in the past which I know was good for the party. Even what people are telling me today gives me more encouragement that I did not lose because I was a non-performer, but it’s just that no condition is permanent so it’s bound to happen that one will have to leave his position one day so I am not going to let that keep me down in terms of what I can do to help the cause of the party”, Mr. Balado Manu told Citi News.

In the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency Mike Ocquaye Jnr, the son of incumbent MP Professor Mike Ocquaye lost to Sarah Adwoa Safo, daughter of Apostle Kwadwo Safo.

Speaking to Citi News, Mr. Ocquaye Jnr congratulated Adwoa Safo and promised to support her to retain the seat for the NPP in 2012.

“The process has come to an end and the delegates have spoken so I respect that. I look forward to supporting Adwoa and the NPP to win the 2012 election. I have spoken to some of my supporters not to go along the line of “skirt and blouse” vote because it is important for them to know that Adwoa has to win Dome-Kwabenya for Nana Addo to win the election” he noted.
