Hailed as the wonder boy of Gambian music, Junior was born at Lamin in 2005.
His name at birth is Abdoul Aziz Cham, However, this name soon gave way to his artistic name, Junior.
Having started his musical career just in February 2010, the Lamin lad has already got five singles to his name.
The highly rated youngster has within one year produced the following singles: He is my number 1, Time will tell, Far away, Money and One continent.
Fortunately for junior, he did not need to look far to get inspiration. His older brother Sheikh Cham has also chosen music as his career. The older Cham’s experience and connections in music have proven decisive in elevating Junior’s career.
Sheikh Cham, alias Real Don, has always guided his younger brother through his musical journey.
He often accompanies him to studio to record and also writes songs for him.
Junior over the months turned out to be the favourite of some schools who invite him to raise funds.
His dazzling moves on the stage and eloquent voice have often send crowds frenzy.
As a result, Junior’s shows have always attracted sell out crowds.
Due to his mesmerising displays, he is demanded by many other schools where he never performed before.
His manager revealed that a series of shows have been lined up for the youngster.
Junior’s maturity and demeanour on stage have surprised so many including his manager.
The manager in a recent interview said, “I never expected a lad of his age to show such maturity on a stage.”
This he said is clear testimony that the young artist will never buckle even before a crowd of over ten thousand people.
The young Lamin artist works with an international producer, Hakeem.
Because of his age, Junior’s management did not allow him to give television and radio interviews.
Even though Junior has been heralded in musical circles as a messiah, his management realised that his exploits will count for nothing if he is not prepared academically.
In this light, he was sent to a nursery school in Lamin.
Surprisingly to many, the wonder kid continues to prove that he is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to academic performance as well.
Year in and year out, he constantly emerges as one of the three best students in his class.
Though only 6, Junior feels so passionate about music that his work rate is comparable to that of any other adult artist.
When his age mates are busy watching television, Junior is busy studying music.
His determination and courage bear the hall mark of a youngster destined to reach the pinnacle of music.
