THE Zambia Rugby Football Union (ZRFU) national league enters week five this afternoon with log leaders ‘Men At Work’ Diggers aiming to maintain their stay at the helm when they take on Roan.
Champions Arrows, a point behind Diggers and second on the log on 13 points, face a tricky encounter away to Green Eagles in Kabwe while ‘Powerhouse’ Lusaka will be seeking their first league points when they host Chibuluma in what promises to be an exciting encounter as both teams are in desperate need of points.
Elsewhere, Green Buffaloes hope to build on last weekend 59-8 demolition of Mufulira when they host Nchanga with Mufulira hoping for a good result against ‘Killer Bees’ Ndola Wanderers while in Chililabombwe, Konkola play Prisons.
Diggers v Roan
Diggers should have no problems wrapping up maximum points and earn a bonus point over a Roan side that seem to have found the goings tough in 2011 rugby season, having not won a single match so far.
It would be unwise, though for the Kitwe giants to underrate a Roan side smarting from a 17-7 defeat to Prisons last weekend, as the Luanshya side may just pull off a surprise and bury Diggers and derail the title chase.
Diggers coach Robertson Kang’ongwe has enough arsenals in his squad led by ever impressive Benaya Mukwamba, Innocent Mwape, Philip Kamanga, Grant Mwila and Robert Chilundami for the much-needed victory.

Arrows head to Kabwe knowing nothing less than victory may just see Diggers extend their lead at the helm of the table, thus will need to be at their best to beat Eagles, who will be equally aiming for maximum points to catch up with the leading pack.
The airmen should be bubbling with confidence having beaten their noisy neighbours Lusaka 29-11 last Saturday, and coach Noble Chisanga is expected to assemble a strong side to should secure him the victory he desperately needs to dislodge Diggers should the Kitwe giants lose to Roan.
Diggers and Arrows have emerged as serious contenders to the title but Eagles technical advisor Innocent Sakala says it was too early to rule out other teams.
“We started well and we are sure that with hard work and concentration our team can challenge for the title. All we have to do is to stop dropping points unnecessarily and also start beating teams like Arrows, Diggers and Lusaka, and am sure we shall win tomorrow,” Sakala said.
Chisanga said his team was on a mission to defend the league and that he had quality players to do the job, but conceded that Eagles were a tough side.
