Prime Minister Guillaume Soro who stated this was interacting with the media after a close door meeting with President John Mills of Ghana on Monday.
During the heat of the political crisis in Ivory Coast, soldiers loyal to Alassane Ouatarra arrested five Ghanaians alleged to be mercenaries loyal to Laurent Gbagbo.
After days of diplomatic negotiations between the Ghana government and the forces loyal to the internationally acknowledged Ivorian president, the five were released.
But Guillaume Sorro denied the arrest of any Ghanaian by forces loyal to Outtarra.
“We deny categorically this information. There were no Ghanaians at all arrested in this war,” Sorro said through an interpretor.
He however praised President Mills for his neutral stance in the Ivorian crisis.
The Ivorian delegation was in the country to brief President Atta Mills about the security situation in Ivory Coast and also invite him to the investiture of President Ouattara scheduled for the 21st of this month.
President Mills also pledged Ghana’s support to bring lasting peace to Ivory Coast.
“Ghana and Cote d’Ivore are brothers and sisters. We are the same so whatever happens in Cote d’Ivoire affects us in Ghana. We will never want to see anything go wrong in Cote D’Ivoire because its implications for us are enormous,” he said.
