Oda NPP MP elected to contest parliamentary elections

May 02, 2011 Gomoa Ekwamkrom (C/R), May 2, GN A- The Gomoa East Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has elected Dr Edwand Nana Cudjoe, a medical doctor based in US, as its parliamentary candidate to contest the 2012 election. Dr Cudjoe polled 192 votes to beat five other contestants in an election conducted by Electoral Commission (EC) at Gomoa Ekwamkrom, near Agona Swedru. The second contestant Mr Sam Quram, a former MP, had 105 votes whilst Mr Kwesi Abuakoh, Chartered Accountant got 55 votes with Mr Mac Jewll Annan, former District Chief Executive in Kufuor administration polled 45 votes and Mr Foster Forson, an accountant, obtained 22 votes

Akim Oda (E/R), May 2, GNA – Incumbent New Patriotic Party Member (NPP) of Parliament (MP) for the Akim Oda Constituency, Mr Robert Yaw Owusu Boateng, won the NPP parliamentary primaries for the area, last Saturday.

He polled 249 votes against Mr William Agyapong Adjabeng Quaittoo, who had 194 votes, and Augustine Ennin Attafuah, a lawyer, who had 145 votes.

Five hundred and ninety-three out of the 605 delegates cast their votes.

Mr Boateng thanked the delegates for giving him the mandate to contest for the Oda seat in Election 2012.

In a related development, a former presiding member of the Birim South District Assembly, Mr Robert K. Amoah, obtained 256 votes to beat the incumbent MP for Akim Swedru constituency, Mr Joseph Amponsah Bosumtwi, who polled 154 votes, to win the primaries.
