Borussia Dortmund clinched their first Bundesliga title in nine years after overcoming Nurnberg.

AC Milan are just one point away from glory in Serie A while Barcelona and Real Madrid both lost in Spain.

The Old Firm continue to go toe-to-toe in the SPL and Ajax and FC Twente are set to contest an end-of-season showdown in Holland.

La Liga

Both Barcelona and Real Madrid suffered UEFA Champions League hangovers as the rivals lost out in Spain.

Madrid are not enjoying the best of times and they slipped to a 3-2 home defeat to Real Zaragoza, while Barca fell 2-1 at Real Sociedad.

Elsewhere in the Primera Division, relegation-threatened Getafe lost 2-1 to Villarreal despite taking the lead while Osasuna overcame Valencia 1-0.

Serie A

AC Milan moved to within one point of the Serie A title following a 1-0 success at home to Bologna with Mathieu Flamini grabbing the only goal of the game.

Inter Milan came out on top against Cesena on Saturday, a 2-1 victory coming thanks to a last-gasp brace from Giampaolo Pazzini.

Napoli triumphed over Genoa 1-0 while Fiorentina thrashed Udinese 5-2 as Sampdoria played out a thrilling 3-3 draw with Brescia.

Bundesliga

Borussia Dortmund clinched the Bundesliga title after beating Nurnberg at home as nearest rivals Bayer Leverkusen lost away to Cologne.

It is Dortmund’s first league win since 2002 as their victory and Leverkusen’s defeat sparked mass celebrations in Westphalia.

St Pauli are all but relegated following their defeat at Kaiserslautern while Wolfsburg lifted themselves out of the drop zone with a vital three points at Werder Bremen.

Ligue 1

Lille returned to the top of Ligue 1 after they thrashed Arles 5-0, a Gervinho double setting them on their way.

Marseille, therefore, slipped to second as Didier Deschamps’ side were held 1-1 at home by Auxerre, Jo-gook Jung cancelling out Mathieu Valbuena’s opener.

Meanwhile, Lens suffered a setback as they went down 3-2 at home to Lorient as Lyon fell to Toulouse and Caen thrashed Nice.

SPL

The Old Firm both picked up emphatic victories in Scotland and Rangers currently sit top of the pile by one point, although they have played a game more than Celtic.

The Gers put five past Motherwell without reply on Saturday but Celtic responded with a 4-1 win over Dundee United.

Elsewhere in Scotland, Kilmarnock and Hearts contested an entertaining 2-2 draw as St Johnstone shocked Hibernian 2-1 at Easter Road.

Eredivisie

FC Twente and Ajax both won on Sunday to set up a winner-takes-all clash between the pair for the Eredivisie title.

The destiny of the title will now be decided on 15th May when the top two go head-to-head at the Amsterdam Arena in the last game of the season.

Twente played their part with a 4-0 thrashing of Willem II, who are now relegated, as Ajax edged past Heerenveen 2-1.

In Switzerland, FC Zurich went back to the top of the table with a 1-0 win over Bellinzona as Basle fell 3-0 to FC Sion.
