The Tanzania Amateur Netball Association (Chaneta) is looking for a new coach to train the national team, Taifa Queens.Chaneta chairperson Anna Bayi confirmed yesterday that they needed a new coach who would replace Australian Simone McKinniss, who terminated her contract with the association recently.

She said the decision to look for McKinniss replacement was one of the resolutions of the executive committee meeting, which took place here earlier this week.”We agreed on finding another coach after McKinniss turned down our request to lead our national team in the forthcoming competitions,” she said.

She described McKinniss departure as a big blow to the body, saying the Aussie played an inspirational role in turning around the country’s netball fortunes during her reign as the Taifa Queens trainer.”McKinniss is one of the coaches recognised by the International Federations of Netball Associations (IFNA),” she said.

McKinniss reportedly opted to terminate her contract following the failure by Chaneta to accord her the services she needed to perform her duties.Chaneta hired McKinniss following an offer by President Jakaya Kikwete to pay salaries for the national soccer, netball and boxing teams’ coaches.

The Australian coach also used to complain over delay of her payments and other incentives during her four-month stay in the country. But Bayi said yesterday that the coach to be recruited would enjoy her work, saying the government was committed to ensuring the coach gets her salary and other incentives on time.
