Ali Al Habsi insists Wigan have the confidence to beat relegation

Ali Al Habsi is adamant his relegation-threatened Wigan have the confidence to remain in the Premier League this season.

Wigan currently lie 18th in the table, and were handed a blow by Everton on Saturday as they let slip a one-goal advantage to draw 1-1.

The Latics face Aston Villa, West Ham, and, finally, Stoke in the last game of the season, fixtures which Al Habsi believes will be tough.

“We know we have three other games. They are going to be tough but we have to stay relaxed and think carefully about the next game against Aston Villa,” Al Habsi told Sky Sports.

“I think the games against Villa and West Ham are the biggest games of the season.

“We don’t want to leave it until the end – we want to get something from these two games.

“Of course we can do it. We have confidence and good players in the team.”

“We played a fantastic game against Everton and it was not easy, but we have to understand everything is in our hands.

Al Habsi has had an impressive season at Wigan after joining on a loan from Bolton, and despite plenty of clubs showing interest in Omani keeper, he insists he is happy at the DW Stadium.

“I am happy to play week after week.

“It has been fantastic to come to this football club and to play in this league.

“I hope to finish playing with this club this season having helped them stay in this league.”
