Two persons have sustained severe injuries and have been rushed to the Tema General Hospital after a fire outbreak at Tema Community One Site One.
The fire which occurred at about 3.15 PM also razed down three stores; a supermarket, a mobile phone shop, a chop bar and a house destroying property worth thousands of Ghana cedis.
According to eye witnesses who spoke to Adom FM, the fire was caused by a gas explosion in the chop bar which is a popular eatery in the area.
The pressure in the gas cylinder was apparently too much and it caught fire and later exploded.
The eye witnesses say fire personnel from the Tema Industrial Area responded quickly to their call and have been able to put out the fire.
The two injured persons are the owner of the chop bar and her husband who is said to be suffering from a mild stroke as a result of the incident.
The whereabouts of three workers at the chop bar who the owner claimed were inside at the time of the fire are unknown; fire personnel have thoroughly searched the premises but have not found them and it is believed they have escaped.
