Kean: Now three points above the relegation zone after win over Bolton

Blackburn boss Steve Kean hailed his side’s professional performance after edging a crucial 1-0 win over Bolton on Saturday.

The win provides Rovers with a much-needed three-point cushion above the relegation zone, with three games remaining in the Premier League.

Martin Olsson’s first-half goal was the difference between the sides, and Kean believes his side could not have given him any more effort.

“I thought it was a tremendous, professional performance from the lads,” Kean told Sky Sports.

“Anything I asked of them before the game they gave me every single thing and more and I felt it was a massive win and a good win for the fans.”

After 10 wins without a win, Kean admitted a degree of relief but he insists Rovers have been playing well despite the run of results.

The Scot was particularly impressed with his side’s efforts in their 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Monday, and he feels they carried that form into Saturday’s game.

He said: “I thought we were excellent against Manchester City and deserved a point and we took that momentum with us. We managed to get the three points and thoroughly deserved it.

“We’ve been playing well in games. We’ve kept our focus and we’ve kept our concentration and really kept the whole group together.

“I think you can see the togetherness and the discipline in the team today. We went a goal up and we felt as though we could get a second.

“That never came but we still managed to stick to our guns and grind it out.”
