Abia State Governor, Theodore Orji, who has been re-elected for a second term, has promised not to disappoint the people and residents of the state.

Speaking at a ceremony to mark his re-election on Thursday in Umuahia, Orji said he was extremely appreciative of the people’s confidence in him.

“I am happy that you gave me your trust and destiny. I will never disappoint you all. This power will not enter my head; rather I should see myself as holding a trust for all,” he said.

He promised that the next four years of his second term would be “action-packed.”

“We are going to be in a haste to do the things that all will be proud of’,” he added, pledging to bring about positive change within the first two years of his tenure.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief Ojo Maduekwe, proposed the victory toast, while the former national Chairman of the PDP, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, called for prayers for the governor-elect.

Former Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Chief Onyema Ugochukwu; Senators Enyinnaya Abaribe and Nkechi Nwaogu, described Orji’s victory as “a victory for the people.”

“This is the first time that we have actually joined hands to elect our governor. The people have spoken and it is final,’’ they said.

Meanwhile, the governorship candidates of Community Party of Nigeria, Rev. Obioma Onyeaghala, and the DFPF candidate, Mr. Emenike Owanta, have rejected the results.

They urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to cancel the election, alleging that the results did not represent the wishes of the people.
