Koboko — Fire has gutted 48 houses in Triangle Cell, Koboko Town Council in Koboko District, leaving 154 people displaced. According to Triangle Cell LCI Chairman Noah Sakari, the fire started from the house of a student at Koboko Parents Girls Secondary School. “I had left a lamp inside the house and came out to bathe but only to come back and find that the house had already caught fire,” the student said.
Property destroyed
Property worth millions of shillings was destroyed.
Sebira said all her books and academic certificates of her brothers were destroyed by the fire. Mr Sakari said: “The misfortune has occurred at a time when people are wrestling with increasing commodity prices.”
The Koboko District, Mr George Ambe, urged the government to help those affected by the fire. The victims of the fire took refuge at Nyarilo Primary School and at neighbours’ homes. In December last year, fire gutted houses in Alimakodra Village, Koboko Town Council, displacing 60 people.
