President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and her visiting Malian counterpart, Amadou Toumani Toure, have called for peace and ceasefire in Cote d’Ivoire and Libya.

At the end of his one-day state visit here, President Toure, who recently won his country’s presidential elections, had bi-lateral discussions with President Sirleaf on several issues.

In their joint Communiqué, Presidents Toure and Sirleaf said they regret the violence in Cote d’Ivoire causing deaths and destruction.

The two leaders therefore called on the fighting forces to embrace the healing process that started since the capture of former President Laurent Gbagbo. They commended President Alassane Qattara for his peace initiatives.

On Libya, they also expressed regret over the crisis and the human suffering, while urging a ceasefire.
