Keren — A bridge has been constructed in Walik administrative area, Keren town, at a cost of over 4.5 million Nakfa, according to Eng. Michael Girmai from the infrastructure development department in the town.
He said that the bridge would relieve the inhabitants of the area from the transport problem they used to encounter during the rainy season. It is also constructed in a way that enriches underground water resources, he added.
Eng. Michael further indicated that the bridge is 210 meters long and 10 meters high, and was constructed on the basis of the internal capacity of the Keren town administration.
Reports indicated that previously the inhabitants, especially pregnant mothers used to face transport problem for traveling to hospital.
Walik administrative area that came to being in accordance with the partial master plan of Keren drawn up in 1998 has a total of 2,500 inhabitants and is registering speedy urbanization.
