Sandro reveals Brazilian friendships will be put to one side when Tottenham face Chelsea

Sandro has admitted he will put friendship aside to fire Tottenham into the Champions League when they face Chelsea on Saturday.

The Brazilian, along with Heurelho Gomes, will face fellow countrymen David Luiz, Alex and Ramires at Stamford Bridge but the midfielder has admitted that bond will count for nothing when they cross the white line.

Sandro thinks the match will have a major impact on the season for both team and believes it is important that Spurs give their all as the Blues still have ambitions for the title.

He told Tottenham’s official website: “This is a very important match for both teams. Chelsea are still in the race for the title, and we are still looking to finish in the top four. It will be a great atmosphere and we will give everything.

“Chelsea are a good team with lots of quality players. I have friends there, the Brazilians, Ramires and David Luiz, but when the match is on, we’ll forget about that and give everything to win. I hope it’s a great match and we win.”

The midfielder also reflected on his opportunity towards the end of the north London derby when he could have secured three points for Spurs but saw his late effort well saved by Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny

He added: “I knew if I made that goal I’d be a hero for life!

“It happened so quickly, I struck it well but the goalkeeper was there to make the save. Hopefully I will score next time.”
