Abuja — First vice president of the Nigeria Scrabble Federation (NSF), Suleiman Gora, has called for a cease fire in the ongoing impasse between NSF president, Engineer Toke Aka, and top Nigerian scrabble players.
Gora in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP SPORTS, said the issues raised were so complex that it would not be solved in an atmosphere of rancour, except through dialogue. “I have observed the current impasse in Nigerian scrabble with disappointment and consternation. I know people have been hurt in the process, but please note that nothing can be achieved without dialogue. These are difficult and complex issues that can be unraveled only by dialogue,” he said.
He warned all the aggrieved players not to take the law into their hands, but forward their grievance through the appropriate channel. “Without rules, every system would result in chaos. If we have issues with our rules or laws, we must advocate for change, rather than take issues in our own hands no matter how justified that course of action may seem. Anything short of that will also result in chaos,” he added.
Top management of the NSF and some top players have been engaged in the crisis with the players saying that the Aka, is running the federation down to the detriment of the players interest. But, however, the president denied the allegations labelled against him, stressing that he was ready to give account of his stewardship as NSF president.
