Belet Hawo — With the start of spring season in drought-hit nation of Somalia, monsoon showers on Wednesday night dropped rainfall in many parts of Gedo region southern Somalia.
Rains raised hopes of local residents who endured years of drought and dry seasons.
Farmers are to begin their farming activities and herders are to return back with their domestic animals to their rural areas to resume normal life.
Three years of drought caused the death of many people mainly kids as well as livestock, prompting the pastoralists to escape with their domestic animals arriving at towns and cities.
