Massawa — The Massawa Boat Plant that operates under the National Fish Corporation is making major contribution in manufacturing and renovating big and small boats, according to Mr. Alem Abraha, manager of the Plant.
He told ERINA that it is striving in the repair of boats and providing technical advice to those engaged in fishing activities in Eritrean territorial waters. Besides, the Plant is engaged in the manufacture of new fiberglass boats, Mr. Alem added.
He further indicated that it is also involved in repairing generators, water pumps, wood and metal works, as well as various modification tasks. Mr. Alem further indicated that the Plant continues to offer vocational training to needy youths identified by the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare, and thereby create job opportunity for them in the Plant itself.
The Massawa Boat Plant that was set up in 1994 repairs over 170 boats and motors annually, according to reports.
