Faure Gnassingbé  presided over a civilian and military parade, in Lomé on Wednesday, to mark the 51st anniversary of Independent Togo. Hundreds of guests and thousands of spectators gathered on the ‘Boulevard de la nouvelle présidence’ to witness the parade of various regiments, on foot and motorized, including firefighters and professional associations. It was a two hour spectacle which was colorful and rhythmic.

The government was in full force as well as the Ambassadors in Lome (France, USA, Germany, European Union, etc …).

We also noticed in the VIP audiences Louis Michel, the Belgian MEP, former European Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid.

A garden party, followed by a gala dinner and fireworks will close the event.
