‘Hollywood is socially disgusting… it’s like prison’: British actor Alex Pettyfer lets rip in foul-mouthed rant

British actor Alex Pettyfer has called Los Angeles ‘socially disgusting’ and compared acting to being in ‘prison’.

The Beastly and I Am Number Four star has insisted that he doesn’t care much for fame.

In an interview with VMAN magazine, he said: ‘I’ve heard I’ve been called a bad boy, or difficult. Maybe that’s because I don’t take any bull****.’

The 21-year-old, who used to date Glee’s Dianna Agron, went on to refer to Los Angeles a ‘s***hole’ and used a misogynistic expletive to describe those who live in the city.

Pettyfer said: ‘I wish I had some interesting stories about living in L.A., but mostly I just do my work and then go home. Being an actor is like being in prison.

‘You go, you serve your time, you try and replicate Johnny Depp’s career and then you move to Paris.’

He added: ‘I think my Wikipedia is full of bull**** because I actually don’t have anything cool or interesting to be said about me.

‘I think L.A. is this insidious pool where nearly everyone lives in fear…Geographically it’s fantastic…but socially it’s disgusting.’

In a rather vulgar revelation, he also announced that he has a tattoo above his crotch that reads ‘Thank You.’

‘In case I forget to say it,’ he says with a wink.

Th actor’s split from Agron earlier this year was surrounded by controversy, with sources claiming she was ‘terrified’ of him.

The 24-year-old actress, who plays Quinn Fabray on the Fox hit series, moved out of the home the two shared in February.

His rising career has been marred by whispers of bad behaviour too.

Industry insiders told America’s People magazine in earlier this year that Pettyfer is ‘talented, but he’s just immature and opinionated.’

‘Alex is not good around big groups of people. He likes to be alone,’ the source added. ‘He’s very isolated and he has a bad temper.’

There were also reports of extreme tension between the actor and director D.J. Caruso on the set of I Am Number Four last year.

He allegedly demanded to renegotiate his $250,000 deal when he discovered another actor was making more, and has also been accused of going missing from important marketing meetings for Beastly, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
