Businessman Conceals “Wee” In Deep Freezer

A 57-year-old businessman, Ibrahim Ambar, on Wednesday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly concealing two parcels of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis in his deep freezer.

Ambar, who was found with additional 93 wrappers of the drugs,
has pleaded not guilty to possessing narcotic drugs without lawful
authority. The court presided over Mr Eric Kyei-Baffour remanded him into prison custody to reappear on May 11.

This was after Ambar’s lawyer, Mr George Asamaning, had argued
that the parcels did not belong to him but one Jahman who brought it
for safe keeping.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Aidan Dery told the
court that at about 0800 hours on April 23, the Narcotic Units of the
Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service had
information that a man was dealing in narcotic drugs in a house at
Adabraka in Accra.

The prosecutor said the Police personnel proceeded to the house
and arrested Ambar. During a search in his sitting room 93 wrappers
were found. The police personnel extended the search to Ambar’s kitchen and they retrieved two compressed parcels of dried leaves in his deep freezer.

ASP Dery said the accused admitted ownership and mentioned one Jahman as his supplier, saying a parcel of the drugs cost GH¢50 and he sold a wrapper for 50 Ghana pesewas.
