Tanzania/Uganda: Vijana’s Rival Camp in Disarray

THE national U-23 soccer team ‘Vijana Stars’ should take full advantage of the Uganda’s Kobs shoddy preparations ahead of their Saturday clash, to march into the next stage of the All Africa Games qualifiers.

Reports from Uganda had it that the youth side shoddy preparation has left senior team Coach Bobby Williams frustrated. Williams has teamed up with assistant coach George Ssimwogerere to shape up the youth team.

According to the New Vision, the Cranes coach believes that the Uganda Super League (USL) has not done any justice to the Uganda U-23 side preparing for the return leg against Tanzania.

The Uganda team, The Kobs, is expected in Dar es Salaam on Thursday for Saturday’s encounter with a slim 2-1 advantage. However, they have not been able to train as a full team following a congested league fixture schedule involving members of the squad.

Yesterday, KCC FC took on Victors and a number of players on the Kobs squad were also involved on either side of the league game. “There is nothing we can do as the technical team. It is affecting us but we have to go with what we have.

Hope it will not repeat itself when we are training for the Guinea Bissau game,” Williamson said after Tuesday’s training.

Williamson had to train with less than half of the team at Kavumba Recreation Ground since most players were on club duty. He was however happy with Saddam Juma, who despite limping off in Monday’s league encounter, trained well.

In a related development, goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan has been dropped from the team, according to reliable sources close to the team camp in Kavumba. Ochan was caught off his line for the visiting side’s away goal in the 2-1 win.

Victors coach George Nsimbe confirmed the development and said only Ali Kimera was still on the team from the club. Kimera and Ochan are the two Victors goalkeepers.
