Sir Trevor Nunn: Weren’t you supposed to be splitting up?

He in a bathrobe, she in T-shirt and pyjamas, they are the picture of rumpled togetherness.

This is Sir Trevor Nunn and his wife of 21 years Imogen Stubbs, days after they announced that their marriage is over.

The couple were bidding farewell to a friend at the door of their home in  West London.

Even though Sir Trevor, 71, is romancing Nancy Dell’Olio and his 50-year-old wife admitted she has found another man, a family friend confirmed yesterday that the pair are still living together.

Their united appearance came four days after the theatre director was seen spending Easter in Cornwall with Miss Dell’Olio, former girlfriend of ex-England manager Sven Goran Eriksson.

Following suggestions that Sir Trevor was cheating on his wife, actress Miss Stubbs told the Daily Mail that ‘there has been someone else in my life for a while’.

Three-times-married Sir Trevor has been friendly with Italian Miss Dell’Olio, whose official age of 49 is the subject of much speculation, since they met in 2004.

Four years later Miss Stubbs said she had ‘some sympathy’ with the view that a wedding was ‘an excuse for a party rather than a declaration of lifelong commitment’.
