Voters in Epe Town have demonstrated their resolve to have an election devoid of malpractices, even as they withstood the moneybags who attempted to use party agents to buy votes from the electorate during the Tuesday elections. Also, the Independent National Electoral Commission had improved on its services in Epe, as the challenge of transporting officers to the villages beyond the river had been resolved

The military, police and civil defence officers on Tuesday mounted heavy road blocks at the entry and exit points of Suleja, a border town between the Federal Capital Territory and Niger State.

Bombs went off at the INEC office in Suleja on the eve of the National Assembly election. The explosion killed some INEC ad hoc staff and left many others injured.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that “the security team is seen preventing vehicular movements from the FCT into Suleja and with rigorous scrutiny of people moving in groups toward the same direction.”

“We have orders to stop vehicles and mass group movement of people from coming into Suleja,’’ one of the uniformed men told NAN, where both the governorship and state assembly polls were taking place.

Although INEC did not conduct governorship and state assembly elections in the FCT, the FCT police command placed a no- movement restriction order on the territory between 8 am and 6 pm.

Though it was observed that motorists and residents of Abuja did not fully complied with the order, NAN reports that in parts of Suleja, a patrol team of policemen was seen dispersing people in groups several metres away from any polling unit.
